Here is a little taste of first Husky sledge driving on Friday 24.10.2014. Dogs were really excited, also drivers!

Chanti, the last trip before the summer holiday starts!

It has been a fabulous winter with lots of nice guests and plenty of work for us, the dogs of Saija! Trips with snow, sunshine and sometimes even a bit rain... Some cold days but generally this winter has been warm. Yesterday, I, Chanti, had my last trip of this season. Still time to enjoy the lunch break in the springtime sun! Today the last dogs came back from the last overnight trip, so tomorrow starts for all of us our summer holiday! During the summer we are kind of lazy, just lying in the sun on top of the cabin or in the sand. So no interesting up-dates on this blog during the summer. When our winter season starts again we will be back here to keep you posted about our goings! See you next winter and we wish you all a nice summer too!

Fast dogsledding featuring Black, Susan, Una & Mos!

At the moment we are enjoying the spring weather. Blue sky, sunshine and day time temperature just above zero!

The last few weeks the warm weather in the day time and the cold temperatures in the night (until -20!) made our trails super hard! This caused high top speed dogsledding and a challenge for our mushers, especially over the lake :-)

Even we, Black and Susan as a senior couple, managed a speed of  at least 25 km/h over the lake!!

Dina's Valentine...

It happened the week of valentine, already almost one month ago... I still want to share my story with you, now when I've got the chance.

Of course I have had seen him around before, he's not been my roommate not even my running mate. But that overnight trip, during the valentine's week, I saw him suddenly really with different eyes...

It was after we checked in in our cabins for the overnight in the wilderness and ate our meal. There I saw him standing, my man, Dino. I managed to get out of my neckline and went to visit on his cabin. That would be a much cosier and warmer night than sleeping alone in my own cabin.

Of course the people saw it happening and still try to put me back but after my second attempt, they decided it was okay since I was not in heat :-) What a nice comfortable, warm and cosy night it was! Thank you guys!

Dinner!

Dinnertime is an exciting time for us! With almost 143 colleagues you have to be on the watch out that you get your portion! I, Jesse, found the perfect place, right on top of the kennel.

Already when I was young I found out how to climb on the fence and hang on the door...

But now, 1 year later, I manage to climb on top of the whole kennel.

A few of my colleagues, Mat and White, have a little bit different style of "waiting for dinner".... :-)

Angel, no angel...

So, when I was born in 2010, they decided to give me the name "Angel"... Of course they couldn't know that time how my character would turn out....

The fact is, more and more my guide and even some mushers are making "complaints" that my name don't match my character. To be straight, I'm just not behaving like an angel. My partner Luke many times get so nervous of me that he starts to eat his harness.

This week came already suggestions that it would be a good idea to swop names with one of the "6D siblings", of which one is called Devil :-)

Ina, tired?

Hei, I'm Ina and normally I'm not really lazy or something. Actually I'm quite hard working always! But you know, sometimes you just have those days that nothing is working, difficult to get out of bed in the morning, your roommate try to eat your breakfast, and than you still have to go working... Deep fresh snow and 30 km. in front of you... Do you know that kind of feeling? I at least had one of those days last week. Luckily I had a really friendly musher and a guide who understood exactly my mood... This was the result :-)
